Scott Bodily
Arizona Youth Ballet – Ballet Master
Scott Bodily (Ballet Master) has a diverse background as a professional dancer, singer, choreographer and performer, and he is a founding member of Utah Festival Opera. He was awarded a vocal scholarship and a dance scholarship from Utah State University where he trained vocally in Opera and Musical Theater with Michael Ballam. He also trained in Classical Ballet, Modern, Character and Jazz and received a BS in Psychology from USU. Scott received a graduate teacher assistantship and has a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Sam Houston State University. He has performed several leading roles with his singing and dance in Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus (AEA), the international Broadway tour of Saturday Night Fever (AEA), Houston Grand Opera and Omaha Opera, MGM Grand – EFX Alive with Rick Springfield and has produced and performed his own song and dance one man show “Reminisce – The Return of the Iconoclast.” He has danced in professional Ballet and Modern Dance Companies including Dayton Ballet, Indianapolis Ballet Theater, Dance Kaleidoscope and Pennsylvania Ballet and he performed works of international choreographers including Doug Verone, Christian Holder, Septime Weber, Judith Fugate, Mark Morris and many others.
Scott has been Deputy Cruise Director, Dance Captain and a Singer/Dancer with the luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises. Scott’s teaching pedagogy and choreographic works include Musical Theater, Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Modern and Jazz, and they have been performed by Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater, Center Dance Ensemble, Arizona uth Ballet, Dayton Ballet II, various colleges and universities dance and theater departments including Mesa Community College, Scottsdale Community College, Sam Houston State University and Utah University. His works have been presented at American Voices, Kick=A, Arizona Youth Artists Competition and selected multiple times to appear in Dance in the Desert Festival (Las Vegas) and Harvest Chicago Festival (Chicago). Scott teaches company class and is a featured soloist for CDE, and is adjunct faculty at Mesa Community College and Scottsdale Community College. He is persistently active in mentoring young artists, promoting and teaching dance for youth organizations, dance troupes and intensives. Scott is excited to return to AZYB and its extended family.
